International Authentic
Movement Gathering

17th Annual - Week II
July 26 (Sun)-31 (Fri), 2009
Faculty: Alton Wasson

A 6-day retreat. Expand individual practice. Enhance witnessing. Dialogue about Authentic Movement in a community of peer movers. Daily warm-ups with live music, hour-long round robins, small faculty-led groups or peer groups. Choose between several options: sessions outdoors, work in other media, work with partners, time alone.
Prerequisites: Week I or the equivalent, including witnessing experience.
Prerequisite for the Peer Group Option: Week II

This workshop will be a time for retreat and rejuvenation, and for meeting with others who are experienced in Contemplative Dance/Authentic Movement. Our goal is to create a community of movers for those who have completed Week I or the equivalent. We will provide support for the practice of moving and witnessing. We assume that participants have experience in witnessing and are able to take responsibility for themselves and their processes while moving for longer periods of time.

10 additional spaces will be available for people who have previously taken Week II, and who are interested in processing the morning sessions in small peer groups. We will also offer optional afternoon movement sessions for these groups. Contact us about this option.

Mornings

Guided Movement Meditation with musical accompaniment by John Sprague. Round Robin movement session. Creative forming. Sharing in small groups. Contemplative Dialogue about the practice.

Afternoons

Choose between several structures for moving, witnessing and sharing, including sessions outdoors, exploring other media, work with partners, or time alone.

Evenings

Dancing. Live music. Pot-luck. Closing ritual.
