Year-Long Program I

Enhance your practice. Learn ways of supporting others in theirs. Discover ways to integrate elements of CD/AM (such as: witnessing, projection, listening) into your life and professional work. Prepare to participate in and create peer grops. Begin study towards facilitating individuals and groups. Explore a new theme each weekend.

Year-Long Program I offers a year of practice and retreat with particular emphasis on the role of the witness. Its six weekends plus the Week II Contemplative Dance summer workshop provide time for in-depth study and exploration. We will work with the practice of moving and witnessing from a variety of perspectives each weekend — in individual sessions and in groups, in play and in dialogue. We will consider the practice through the lens of a new theme each weekend, such as: The Wisdom of the Body; Active Imagination and Creativity; World Dance and Ritual; Shadow; Rites of Passage; Inner and Outer Ecology. Each weekend will also include time for dialogue on assigned readings, and time for participants to talk about how their work in the program is connecting to their work and lives back home. Participants will also have an individual session with each faculty member over the course of the year. Throughout we will provide close personal mentoring.

We seek a diverse population. Women and men from a broad range of backgrounds have taken the Year-Long Programs — artists of all kinds, psychotherapists, college professors, social workers, dance therapists, yoga teachers, somatic practitioners, administrators, professional religious, as well as an architect, a hospice teacher, a kindergarten teacher, and a midwife among others. People have traveled from afar (Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Maine) and from nearer to us (Boston, New York, Albany). Participants have ranged in age from 25 to 75. Many have worked with us before, while others have had previous experience in Authentic Movement with other teachers. Some may have been practicing Authentic Movement for years; some began as recently as the latest Week I summer workshop. We value this variety, which enriches us all.

We offer CEU's for Year-Long Program I (see CEU page).
