In-Person Summer Retreat for Those Experienced in Contemplative Dance/Authentic Movement

July 7-12, 2024

Hampshire College, Amherst, MA

Faculty: Daphne Lowell & Alton Wasson

We are happy to again this summer offer an in-person week-long retreat in the beautiful Hampshire College studios. This 6-day retreat might be a reunion for you and a wonderful opportunity to meet with practitioners you haven’t yet met. Come join us!

Each morning will begin with a guided movement meditation, accompanied by John Sprague. We’ll move next into an hour-long round robin, with creative forming, and sharing in peer and/or faculty-led small groups. Each afternoon there will be a two-hour session to explore the practice in additional ways, such as moving and witnessing in nature, active imagination play in various art media, work with partners, moving the question, or other ways yet to be discovered. During the week there will also be time to reflect on the practice in Contemplative Dialogues and eat lunches and perhaps a supper or two together outdoors. Again this summer evenings will be open, and we will not host on-campus housing

Hampshire College’s 800-acre campus features beautiful orchards, woods, meadows and scenic hiking trails in the heart of rural New England, only a few hours away from New York City and Boston. Two beautiful, clean, air-conditioned, sprung-floored studios provide ample space for the workshop.

Summer Retreat 2024 Covid Protocols:

We require all participants to confirm their negative rapid (Antigen) tests prior to arriving for the Summer Retreat and during the week as needed. We will ask all to self-monitor for symptoms daily. A positive test will mean you may not come to the retreat or attend the sessions if you are already here. Masks will be honored but not required.

More details on this to follow. We will keep you informed if our Covid protocols change.
